Green Planet Livestock specialises in breeding Red Angus bulls and dams that are highly marketable for increasing genetic diversity in studs and for outcross purposes in regular herds.
Our bulls and dams possess desirable Red Angus breed traits such as consistent fertility rates, ease of birthing, strong constitution, sound structure and appealing temperament.
We have formulated our own 5 star rating scale to sale stock in the areas of STRUCTURE and TEMPERAMENT to assist our clients in selecting stock that are suitable for the genetic makeup of their stud and for their general herd needs.
Green Planet Livestock understands that the overall temperament of bulls and dams is important in maintaining and increasing efficiency of workloads in a stud or herd. For us, the temperament is a priority and because of this, we handle our sale stock on a daily basis.
We rate our sale stock for temperament using the following criteria:
- animal approachability
- ease of working alongside and with the animal
- docility of the animal to be handled
- level of receptiveness of the animal in yard work including being put through the yards and use of head crush
- responsiveness of the animals to being rounded up.
When rating stock structure, we consider the overall proportion and depth that the animal possesses including:
- strong legs
- smooth, straight back
- rounded rump
- sound feet
- solid muscle tone
- sizeable sturdy frame
- fullness of udder.
Our rating scale is a guide only for each bull or dam for sale that we discuss with our clients upon inspection and point of sale in an attempt to provide each client with an all round package suited to their needs.
